Special Announcement – May 10, 2023

Special Announcement from CSEBRI

We are very proud to let you know that the Cultural Society (CSEBRI) is one of the recipients of the Art Culture Expansion grant from the Rhode Island Foundation, Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, and Rhode Island State Council for the Arts for the next three years. This grant will give us $10,000 of unrestricted funds for the next three years to strengthen our administration and expand our Arts and Culture programs.

Cultural Society Received another grant for our AAPI history museum

Rhode Island Council for the Humanities has awarded the Cultural Society a major grant to do the preliminary research for a museum of AAPI history and culture.  Two talented individuals have been chosen to do this important work and it will begin this summer.

The Unveiling of the public art, "Uniting AAPI Community for Change" took place on May 6th, 2023 at 12:30 p.m.

The making of this public art has been in the making for months.  We unveiled this art on May 6th.  Mayor Brett Smiley delivered a strong speech to support the people of AAPI descent in Rhode Island.  Look at the photos here. We still have two more weekends of celebration for AAPI Heritage Month.  Please come join us for the other weekends and be part of our celebration for the AAPI Heritage Month!  Register here

Asian Pacific American Alliance of Rhode Island (APAARI) is here!

We are very pleased to let you know that the AAPI Advisory Council has been formed. [Our new name is Asian Pacific American Alliance of Rhode Island or APAARI.]  We will give you more information on different types of membership where you can join and be part of us.  We have begun to work on issues affecting our lives.  Please stay tuned and  to hear about our work.

AAPI Heritage Month celebration is finally here

We have been working hard on creating the “right” type of programming where we can give you entertainment and education on the heritage and history of the people of AAPI descent.  This is the first time Rhode Island will have a month-long celebration for AAPI Heritage Month.  We may not be able to present all the cultures in our first year, but we will feature different cultures in our subsequent celebrations.  Please be sure to contact our Director if you want to collaborate with us for future celebrations.

Please feel free to email Jeannie Salomon at director@csebri.org for any content in this special announcement
